Get A Preview Of New Features Coming To Google Ads

Google provides a sneak peek at new features planned for advertisers ahead of the Google Marketing Live event on May 24. These capabilities represent what the Google Ads staff has been working on throughout the first few months of 2022.

Marketers will be able to enhance their marketing campaigns with the new functionality that Google Ads will provide.

Improvements To Responsive Display Ads

Google's responsive display advertising, which changes ad content to fit different ad unit sizes, is getting better.

Mobile Layouts

Any portrait image or video asset will be able to fit into all-new, mobile-first layouts for responsive display advertisements. When mobile-first layouts become available, responsive display advertisements will be able to produce video automatically from static creative. This will allow advertisers to take full advantage of the mobile ad inventory now accessible with mobile-first designs.

Machine Learning

With machine learning, the whole process of generating advertising to match various formats and device types is being sped up. Google explains what machine learning will bring to responsive display advertisements in recent a blog article:

“By using machine learning to speed up the design and iteration process, you can deliver engaging display ads faster than ever. Simply put, upload a few images, videos, and headlines, and we’ll automatically create and test visually striking ad combinations that fit millions of possible ad placements and, most importantly, deliver results.”

When an ad group with a static display ad is enhanced with a responsive display ad, Google found that advertisers see two times the conversions, on average.

Image Uncropping

Machine learning will be used by Google Ads to uncrop images in product ads. Image expansion seamlessly fills in any remaining space, leaving you with no white margins. The following is an example of product advertising with and without image uncropping:
